An adventure in Tanzania, the land of Kilimanjaro and the Serengeti, requires careful planning and preparation. An essential step in this process is applying for a visa to Tanzania. Although the process may seem simple at first glance, there are some issues that always raise questions. In this blog, we aim to provide clarity and help you fill out your Tanzania visa correctly to ensure a stress-free and memorable travel experience.

New Application

Confirm the green button “Apply for a new visa” on the homepage to start your application.

Basic Information

In the second step it starts very simple. To be specified are:

Email

Passport Number

Passport Issue Country

Security Question (select one of four questions)

Security Answer (answer your selected question)

Confirm “I am not a robot” and the purple button “Start New Application”. Now you will receive your application ID. Make a note of this number. You will need it if you do not finish your application and want to log in later for further processing. Confirm with “Proceed to next step”.

Personal Information

You have started your application with flying colors! You probably know all the next details by heart. Make sure that everything is written the same as in your passport.

First name, Middle name und Surname

Gender (male / female)

Marital Status (Single / Married / Divorced / Widowed)

Birth Date 🥳 + Country and City of birth

Nationality at Birth + Present Nationality

Residence Status (Citizen / Resident / Asylum seeker / Refugee / Stateless)

Confirm with “Save and continue”.

Contact, Address and Employment

And quite simply it goes on:

Telephone No, Mobile No and Email

Present Physical Address + Present City

Permanent Physical Address + Permanent City (and yes, current and permanent is often the same thing 😉)

Employment Status (Employed / Self Employed / Unemployed) In case of occupation: employer and occupation

Confirm with “Save and continue”.

Passport Information

With a quick glance at the passport:

Passport Number

Which country issued your passport

Which place issued your passport

On which date your passport was issued

On what date your passport expires

Confirm with “Save and continue”.

Travel Information

This is where it gets a little tricky for the first time. The fields marked in brown can be filled in exactly as shown in the picture. If you are not traveling with us in Tanzania, you can adjust the fields for you at “Local Host”. Further explanations:

Is this your first time to visit Tanzania? (Yes / No) The date of your last Tanzania trip is optional.

Destination (Tanzania Mainland / Zanzibar) If you visit both, choose where your trip starts.

Port Type (Airports / Roads / Vessel)

Port of Entry If entering via airport: (Kilimanjaro International Airport / Dar es Salaam-Julius Nyerere International Airport / Mwanza International Airport)

Port of departure (too many…mostly Kilimanjaro International Airport / Dar es Salaam-Julius Nyerere International Airport or Abeid Amani Karume International Airport - Zanzibar).

Date of arrival This is probably self-explanatory.

Stay duration (days) This also 😉

Physical Address Write here the address of the first accommodation on your trip through Tanzania.

Confirm with “Save and continue”.

Travel Companions

Are you traveling as part of a group or organization? (Yes / No)

Are you being accompanied by any minors? (Yes / No)

This only appears if you are traveling with children: First name, Last name and Birthdate of the minors

Confirm with “Save and continue”.

Documents

Upload a passport photo, a scan of your passport and a confirmation that you are leaving the country to the website. Confirm with “Save and continue”.

Declaration

Check here again all your entries for their correctness. With the green “Edit” button you can edit your entries again. Confirm that you have read the “Terms and Conditions” and continue to the payment of your visa with “Save and continue”.

Payments

Choose whether you want to pay by bank transfer or by Visa or Mastercard and complete the payment process. You have successfully applied for your visa 🥳

Check Visa Status

You can also use the same link to check the status of your visa application. Just click on the button “Check Visa Status” on the homepage. Enter your application ID, your email and your selected security question. The current status will be displayed.

You will receive the confirmation of your visa by email within the next week.
